Projects

Montrose

Positioned on a farming station, this project involved a meticulous renovation to preserve a family home with a rich history. Following the aftermath of earthquakes, the decision was made to retain the house, built by the client's grandfather, and give it a new lease on life. The back of the house was removed and a new section was added, including reinforced foundations and a steel support structure to carry the second floor. Extensive improvements, including insulation, double-glazed windows, radiators, and upgraded bathrooms, were made to future-proof the home. The renovation also focused on reusing valuable materials such as kauri and rimu timbers, leadlight windows, and custom cabinetry, which required three months of careful removal and cataloguing before being reinstalled. The project, which took 18 months, was recognised with a heritage award.
